‘They are not the same’; Hong Kong protesters react to the American riots.
Two days ago, I joined the thirty-first-anniversary vigil for the Tiananmen Square Massacre in Melbourne.
At the vigil, I asked Hong Kong protesters what they thought about some people comparing the riots in America to the Hong Kong protests.
While some protesters are sympathetic to the Black Lives Matter cause, none believe there is a comparison between the two.
Every protester I spoke to condemned the looting in America.
One protester told me:
It’s stupid, people who compare these have probably been paid.”
Last week I made a video explaining the differences after an Australian activist compared the Hong Kong protests and the American riots.
